Dancerz Stage Competitive and Performing Troupe
Our philosophy towards competition revolves around a simple concept: the thrill of performance. We will try to instill in our dancers that the fun and thrill of performing is more important than the award itself. We want them to dance, dance, dance . . . and enjoy every minute of it.
Competition does NOT dominate Dancerz Stage! However, being on a competition team will require dedication and sportsmanship. Not only will the dancers train all week, they also build strong friendships that last far past their years at the studio. The dancers are required to take other dance classes/ technique classes to support their other forms of dance. They learn and perfect routines and then begin their competition season. Performing also plays a developmental role in dance education. Providing the student opportunities to showcase their achievements motivates them to strive to reach their full potential and rewards them for their hard work.
For students interested in making a more serious commitment to training and performing, we offer the DS Performing and Competition (P&C) Teams . This is a group that performs at a variety of local events and locations such as retirement homes, schools, shopping malls, festivals and dance competitions. Our competitive teams compete at many local dance competitions and participate in dance seminars and workshops with master dance instructors. Team work is emphasized. Students are divided into groups according to age, ability, and style of dance they choose. Competition students are serious students who must make a commitment for the entire season. Our innovative and energetic teaching staff elevates the quality instruction and brings integrity and creativity to the competitive and performance dance world.
While there are countless competition organizations we make a choice to look at this experience as an educational one. DS P&C Team will take pride in picking competitions that not only have classes and workshops but have great reputations for artistic integrity as well.

Competition Team Policies
Requirements for all Team members:
Classes –The Artistic Director will decide the level of classes that the team member should be in. The ages to the classes are just a guide. The student will be placed according to their ability and skill.
Audition – Competition Team members are selected by audition only each year. Auditions are conducted by an outside panel of judges. In the future, existing team members must audition to hold their slots each year. The decision of any team member moving up to a new competition team group is decided upon by the Artistic Directors.
Registration – Members must be registered for the entire program. All required classes are mandatory. Attendance in these classes is important to the dancer's growth and will be a reflection on casting in the future.
Rehearsals – All rehearsals are mandatory. Each team member is allowed to miss three rehearsals for the year. Half days will be counted. If there are too many absences the team member will be given a warning first and then dismissed if the absences persist. We know you cannot help illness, family emergencies, or religious obligations, but please understand, a dance team is not just about your commitment to the studio, it is about your commitment to the other team members as well.
